But in a world where a 12-year-old can choose from 100+ different sports, alongside countless entertainment options, how do they make their choice? What attracts them to action sports rather than traditional disciplines? This session will explore the key markers that make urban sports stand out, from their strong visual identity to their connection with digital culture, communities, and self-expression. How can brands, institutions, and event organizers leverage these unique aspects to engage and retain young audiences?

Urban sports & mass events:
How immersive experiences drive economic impact
Marriott Hotel
Urban sports events are more than just competitions—they are dynamic, multisport festivals where sport, entertainment, and culture collide. Their unique ability to engage a broad audience, from elite athletes to amateurs, juniors, and families, directly translates into significant economic benefits for host cities. By creating immersive experiences that captivate spectators, these events generate tourism, boost local businesses, and contribute to long-term infrastructure development.
How can we design experiences that maximize audience engagement while driving economic sustainability? What innovative formats set urban sports mass events apart from traditional elite competitions? This session will explore how the spectator experience fuels economic impact, positioning urban sports as a powerful driver of local economies and city transformation.

These sports create spaces where cultural exchange thrives, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. This session will highlight key initiatives that use urban sports to drive social transformation, showcasing projects in Europe, Africa, and beyond.
